The Office of Navajo Nation Library was established in 2001 by the Government Services Committee of the Navajo Nation Council through Resolution No. GSCAP-35-01. The Office of Navajo Nation Library is situated in the Division of Dine Education within the Navajo Nation Government. The activities of the Office of Navajo Nation Library shall be conducted by the Program Director who shall be under the general direction of the Executive Director, Division of Dine Education.
- Library Automation Project - The Office of Navajo Nation Library has automated its collection. The circulation (materials check out) system has been streamlined. The Library has 61,000+ books in the system.

Internet Access - All of the computers are hooked up to the Internet via broadband access. 20 computers are available for use by the general public.

The Office of Navajo Nation Library officially opened in the Navajo Nation Museum, Library and Visitor Center on October 31, 1997.
